Edited by: El 1974 on 18/08/2011 17:51:54 IŠm not so much in favor of changes like a new deepspace structure. It will take too much coding and time to implement and will have (unintended) impact on other parts of the game. Keep it simple. IŠm thinking more like a special Corporate Hangar Array or a Giant Secure Container. In stead of having defences it should be possible to hide (cloak) it from directional scanners. That way players in fact create scansites for others with highly variable rewards (salvage, loot, ammo). A simple toy to play with in the sanbox.
Access to a local market to buy ammo and sell loot could be beneficial. I canŠt help but think that the inhabitants of local planets might produce that same ammo for their own needs and would like to reprocess the low value loot or ores. Perhaps you can even rent a hangar at the planet to store your stuff or trade your items with your Dust Char for safekeeping. Planets... I hope we get more info soon about what will happen there so we can get a better picture of what we are discussing.
I donŠt agree that docking is essential. You can go offline in a safespot. Being undetectable/invulnerable while afk is undesireable.

I wouldn't aim too low. This is part of a 5 year plan and things will get smashed down into something they feel is manageable, and then again when they run out of time. These crazy viking types like to plan big. If you had a personal/small corp starbase just for yourself that you could call home. What would you like to see?
We already have GSCs and cloaking devices but they don't feel like home. More like camping out in a military zone.
I'm not willing to wait 5 years until they have devised a plan. They have other plans for the near future that will consume most of their coding time, so they have time to discuss nullsec before adding significant amounts of code. To get something done soon rather than in five years it must be simple.

Originally by: Vincent Athena ... Think of mission spaces: The NPCs and their stations cannot be seen on the overview, d-scan or with probes. Give us players the same option.
This is interesting. We already have mission sites that now dissapear when left alone. If we could somehow make these sites permanent (e.g. by hacking the acceleration gate) we could anchor a few containers and use them as a (semi)permanent residence. Perhaps we could even hack some of the Large Collidable Objects that could give certain advantages, like an ore processor, warehouse or repair station.

If we want alliances to open up 1 or several stations as open trade hubs, then perhaps all they lack are proper tools and stimulus. I never ran a station, so no idea what is possible now. But station owners should be able to set prices for using station services (broker fees, docking, perhaps even based on standings) so they can make good money for developing and protecting a trade hub. Individuals should be able to use manufacturing and research slots from their own hangars. And more slots are needed.

I'm against something invulnerable for obvious reasons. But it could be hard to destroy or even practicly invulnerable if certain conditions were met. E.g. it's hard to destroy if the system isn't actively used. Or it could tie in with Dust: a planetary orbital structure that's safe as long as you have it linked up and supported by friendlies on the planet, but will be vulnerable as soon as the other side destroys/conquers the planetary structures supporting it.
